Contract Type:
Full-time The Y’ello Digital Centre in Binka, established under the MTN Foundation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, is a community hub dedicated to bridging the digital divide. The centre provides digital literacy training, ICT skills development, entrepreneurship support, and access to digital tools to empower youth, women, and underserved groups in the region. Managed by BINDECA, the centre aims to foster local economic growth and social empowerment.
Job Purpose:
To assist the Resident Centre Manager in the effective implementation of the centre’s mission by managing community engagement, supporting program delivery, managing outreach efforts, communication and ensuring a positive and engaging experience for centre users.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Engagement and Outreach
● Promote the centre’s activities through flyers, social media, radio, and school partnerships.
● Build strong relationships with community members, local groups, and institutions.
● Assist in organising community events, workshops, and open days.
2. Operational Support
● Ensure the readiness of facilities, equipment, and internet connectivity.
● Assist with front-desk duties: welcoming visitors, registering participants, responding to inquiries.
● Maintain usage records, attendance logs, and basic financial records when assigned.
3. Marketing and Visibility
● Manage the centre’s social media accounts and update online platforms.
● Develop promotional content and success stories highlighting the centre’s impact.
Desired Qualifications and Experience Education:
At least two years of Higher Education studies in ICT, Communications, Community Development, Education, or related fields.
Experience:
● At least 2 years’ experience in community mobilisation, training facilitation, or program coordination.
● Familiarity with digital tools, social media management, and ICT equipment.
● Experience working with NGOs, CSR initiatives, or rural community projects is an advantage.
Skills:
● Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic ICT troubleshooting.
● Ability to engage diverse audiences, including youth and women.
Personal Attributes:
● Passion for digital inclusion and community empowerment.
● Creative, proactive, and adaptable to a rural setting.
